Rocky Mountain Sherpas Visit Mica Heli

Rocky Mountain Sherpas are an award winning ski film production company. Their last film, “The Fine Line,” took top honors at several major ski film festivals when it debuted in 2009. The company is now working on its part ski film, part environmental film “All.I.Can.” The two year project has seen the crew visit many extreme and remote locals. Less Than 80 Days

With each passing day, December 11th draws closer and closer. That is the day that Mica Heli Guides starts their first tour of the 2010-2011 skiing season. Heliskiing with Mica is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Their tenure stretches over more than 177,000 acres of the prime backcountry here in British Columbia, Canada. They are located on the western slopes of the Canadian Rockies just north of Revelstoke, and offer exclusively small-group tours. 

Summit NZ Freeheel Challenge

As we here in beautiful British Columbia await the arrival of our first serious snowfall, the folks down south in New Zealand are already enjoying theirs. This coming weekend, the Summit NZ Freeheel Challenge will be taking place there. This is a competition for telemarkers and ski tourers, so a different set of skiing skills will be on display than what B.C. typically sees.
 

Wonders of Winter Heliskiing

Set along the western slopes of the Canadian Rockies, and surrounded by the Selkirk and Monashee ranges, the tenure of Mica Heli Guides is the idyllic mountain paradise. While most people choose to visit their tenure for the downhill skiing, there is also a ski touring option for those that aren't necessarily looking for a full on adrenaline rush.
 

New Zealand Winter Games 2011

100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games held its inaugural event last year, drawing a very successful crowd of athletes. This year, the event wasn't held since the inaugural FIS Snowboard & Freestyle Junior World Champions was taking its place in Lake Wanaka, New Zealand. However, at the completion of the FIS event, the 2011 edition has now been confirmed. The games will feature 16 days of snow and ice sports, and is expected to entice more than 1,000 athletes to make the trip down south.
