The first leg of the Frisby Ridge bike trail is nearly complete. As part of its mission to improve the biking opportunities here in Revelstoke, the Revelstoke Cycling Association has undertaken the construction of a new bike trail on Frisby Ridge. With the weather getting colder and snow starting to fall, the construction crews will have to hurry. The association is still hoping to finish the first part this year. Once completed, the first leg will be 12 km long. The cross-country trail will be intermediate level single-track.
Sadly for us skiing fanatics, winter is still a few months away. That means a little more waiting before we get to shred the slopes of the backcountry here in Revelstoke, British Columbia. However, if you happen to like mountain biking, the Mt. Revelstoke Steamer race will be taking place this Saturday. Not only will it be a fun race, it will also be a nice tour of the Meadows in the Sky Parkway ride that goes all the way up to the summit of Mt. Revelstoke. The 27km race is an individual time trial race with under 40 and 40 plus men's and women's divisions.

For that purpose, every Thursday night, Revelstoke plays host to Pedal & Pint. This fun-filled evening starts at 6PM at the Community Centre. After two hours of sweet trail riding, the event heads over to the River City Pub for drinks and merriment.

Revelstoke Railway Days, the annual celebration of everything train here in Revelstoke, British Columbia, starts today. Revelstoke has a long history with rail, and indeed owes its existence to the creation of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the 1880s. This year's event is packed with things to do all the way up until the last day. The celebration will last August 12th through August 17th. This year, the event is also being held in collaboration with Timer Days, resulting in many forestry demonstrations being held throughout the commemoration.
